CHARACTER STUFF
Name: Breakdown
Aliases: n/a
Canon: Transformers Prime, Character Wiki
Role: anti……..villain? the villain that could drift antihero in the right circumstances.
Species: Cybertronian
Gender: ROBOTS, but, male
Age: A few thousand years, in keeping with CONDENSING.
Appearance: Check out this giant rack.

Origin story:
Breakdown is your standard more-or-less loyal Decepticon, a bit more devoted to the cause than his self-serving partner, Knock Out. He joined the cause originally because Megatron seemed to stand for what was generally a pack of good ideas — overthrow the corrupt government, stand up for yourself, etc — but he feels more loyalty to people than to causes. Ideas were what brought him to the fight, and connections kept him there. The strongest was with his partner, Knock Out, and now, a few thousand years after the start of the war, Knock Out is still the ‘bot Breakdown trusts the most to have his back.

Really, it might be slightly too much trust.

The two had been sent out scouting for energon deposits, and after an Autobot skirmish separated them, Breakdown spent a few years trying to track down where Knock Out’s escape shuttle had gotten to. He eventually tracked it to Earth, but picked a terrible place to land the ship, considering who immediately picked up his signal. He had less than a day to begin his search for Knock Out before he was seized by TRIDENT, and has been kept by them since then — a total of about 2 years.

Personality:
Breakdown is loyal… selectively. He follows orders given by his superiors eventually, as seen in canon when Starscream orders Knock Out and Breakdown to return to base and attend a comatose Megatron, and Breakdown stays in the field to finish the job he and Knock Out had been working on. He’s also often seen deferring to Knock Out’s judgment in terms of whether or not they complete their assignment, looking to his partner to decide if they should stay and fight, or consider it a lost cause and run. And while he’s never openly defiant, he does think long and hard about whether or not to carry out Starscream’s order to attack Bulkhead, after Bulkhead had rescued Breakdown from kidnap and torture at the hands of a human organization. Decepticon loyalty does eventually win out though, and he attacks his long-time rival as commanded. He also does no more than wince when Knock Out faces discipline at the hands of Starscream for disobeying orders. (Though, of course, he’d known that Knock Out would be suffering superficial damage only.)

Above all else, though, Breakdown is a soldier. It’s implied that he’s had many, many run-ins with Bulkhead through the war, even to the point of Bulkhead’s human friend referring to them as arch nemeses. They clearly have a long and bitter history, and given a choice in opponents, will always aim for one another. Soldier that he is, that’s how Breakdown likes things: simple, easy to understand. Bulkhead is his enemy, Knock Out his his partner, and Airachnid is creepy but a little attractive. But that last one is a little perplexing, so he readily obeys orders to head out with his commanding officer to dispatch her, when she becomes a hindrance to the Decepticon cause. (Not that that goes very well for him— he ends the mission in pieces.)

He’s also an honest bot. That sounds like an oxymoron, considering Decepticons have lies right in their name, but it goes with the simplicity of being a solider. If you make him angry, he’ll fight you. If you save him, he’ll be loyal to and work with you. And if he likes you, prepare for casual, chatty friendliness, whether you’re a fellow officer or just a lowly Vehicon drone. He doesn’t really discriminate. It keeps things simple that way.

Differences from canon:
There won’t be many changes between him and canon, except the torture-for-science is suffered at the hands of TRIDENT, rather than MECH. He’s also spent the last five years more concerned about finding Knock Out and making sure he’s okay, rather than directly serving the Decepticon cause, so it’s been easy to put that out of his mind. Especially easy in the wake of his time with TRIDENT.

Power level: A
Powers:
-Transforming into any vehicle he can scan (currently an armored truck called a Bushmaster)
-Blasters, one mounted on his shoulder and one on his roof in vehicle mode
-He can transform one of his hands into a big fat hammer
-He’s a capable warrior who can hold his own against the hard-hitters of his canon. Except for the one that kills him. :T
-Sort of medical capable, since he’s a medic’s partner… like a big blue nurse.
-Can generate a solid holomatter avatar that can interact with the environment around him.
